Guide to Nuclear Power Safety

When working with or near something as hazardous as nuclear material, it is best to know as much as possible about atomic safety. Nuclear radiation protection awareness grows more important every where. As with any measure of safety, it is important to take the most effective precautions specific to your business' situation.

In the past there have been two notable events involving commercially operated nuclear power plants: the Three Mile Island II incident in 1979, and the Chernobyl-IV accident in 1986. Both events, traumatic as they were at the time, have been “blown up” out of proportion in the past. It is now nearly 25 years after Chernobyl, and perhaps the general public has largely forgotten. But the true scale needs to be borne in mind. An international multi-agency conference was held in 2005 specifically for this purpose and it was widely reported in the media. The main conclusion was that the damage caused by the accident was not as widespread as originally thought.

The backbone of any nuclear power facility are the Policies and Operations guides that tell all personal what to do in each situation. As plants become more technologically sophisticated and security issues more important, however, the related operations and policy manuals fill more volumes than ever. Most training today is done to reinforce the use of these guides, and over time, with seasoned operators, the underlying logic and step-by-step procedures become instinctive.

Therefore, it is very important to find the most useful nuclear safety information not only for yourself, but your business.

Want to Become a Feature Columnist ?

I was surprised to receive the last Newsletter from Technorati. It contains this useful information :

Dear Technorati writers, Please take the time to read these suggestions from Technorati Executive Editor Matt Sussman about how to get the most out of your Technorati experience. Thanks!

Good evening, everyone! Hope it's warming up wherever you reside. Don't stay in the sun too long, however — we've got some great ideas for you wherein you can become an expert in your field of expertise.

There lies within the chambers of our mysterious website an untapped potential that many of you can and should harness. If any of you have ever said to yourself, "My topic of interest must not be wanted because there is no channel/category/place for it," well, you have the power to CREATE that community within Technorati.

I am, of course, talking about feature columns. Examples of such current features: "The Ballot," which pertains to the 2010 elections "The 12th Man," the definitive basketball feature "From The School House," which covers education in the news.

In case you didn't know how to get a feature started, let's go over the three steps:

Step 1: Decide what your feature will cover.

Be very specific. Few will be very interested in a topic consisting of "my unique thoughts on the world around me," but if you were to focus on a series of, say, thoughts on reality TV or mobile technology, suddenly you've defined your territory. And don't try to bite off too much.

Say you want to write about "the media." Well, that's actually a very good idea, because bloggers have unwittingly become the watchdog of the fourth estate. But there is so much media out there, and you are but one mortal human! Try sizing it down to "political media" or "gaming media" or "celebrity/gossip media." Now it's a lot easier to digest.

Step 2: E-mail any editor with the following information:

a. The name of the feature

b. At least a 100-word pitch/intro/mission statement to be published on the feature's index page. Speak in the present tense. What does this feature cover? Why are you particularly interested in this topic?

c. Two graphics to serve as logos: a banner (602x160 pixels on TR) and an icon (60x60 pixels) which will appear on the index page and every article. If you do not have image creating abilities, maybe you have a buddy who does. Maybe another writer/editor can offer their services. Editors may also be available for this task if you ask nicely.

Step 3: Write under the feature with regularity.

The best way to build a community is be as frequent as possible. Strive for writing four or five days a week if you can. Weekly is also a very consistent frequency, but volume should be as much as you think you can handle on a regular basis.

There are also collaborative features. The 12th Man, The Ballot, Social Goodness, and PerpPlexity are such examples; you really needn't do nothing more than write under these features and be proud of it. (If you don't have this listed under your "feature" pulldown, notify an editor and we will add you to it. Some of these features have specific criteria by which one must adhere.)

Indonesian Ornamental Fish

It is not difficult to bring the beauty of life in the water in our homes, whether it comes from freshwater environments, as well as from the sea. What is needed is a glass vessel and several life-support equipment such water creatures, a little basic knowledge of water chemistry, little information on occupant behavior, and a little touch of art, and time can be spent to care for .

The beauty does not necessarily mean expensive, many alternatives that can be used as aquarium, from the cheapest to most expensive. Choose which according to the tastes and abilities and align with the beauty that wants to present.
With a little touch of art, something simple can turn into spectacular works. Begin by thinking of a theme of aquatic life that wants to be presented, so that people will be easily led to the things I want to find from the look and trapped in the beauty of which is presented.

One thing to keep in mind that the success of ornamental fish, depending on the success of "maintaining" the water. If we managed to maintain the water so fish and other aquarium inhabitants will be able to automatically maintain themselves.

Occasionally we will realize, that being an ornamental fish, hobbies, like it or not, will automatically be at the same time also being an "expert" person in chemistry, physics, biology and mathematics. Do not believe? Try to start keep ornamental fish and prove it. However, you will not be alone, a lot of other hobbies that are ready to help you. If the clubs need to follow the ornamental fish in your place or join the virtual discussion groups on the internet about ornamental fish.

You can spend hours on research over the internet and at the library or book store. But why not download one utlimate guide one time and have all of the answers at your fingertips all of the time?

Enjoy and Good Luck !

Say it with flowers!

From this expression turns out that flowers have a lot of beneficial interest. Flowers can be used as an ornamental garden and yard. Flowers can be used as room fragrances. Flowers can also be used as cosmetic ingredients or perfumes for women. Even flowers can be used as medicine to heal diseases. And flowers used too as a symbol for getting peace in the war!

How to grow flowers ?

1. Get flower seeds

Pick only good flower seeds from a recognized company. This will ensure healthy flowers. You may also collect seeds from a noted flower garden as an alternative. However you should know that when you propagate from garden seeds, there is a possibility you may not get a genuine flower clone.

2. Set up garden beds

Setting up garden beds includes thawing, raking the soil surface, removing rocks and clay clods and combing the garden until a fine texture is achieved. Supplement your flower beds with compost and organics. Dig 6 – 8 inches before you put them in. Nitrogen will weaken your plants so try to avoid adding it when setting up your flower bed. Sprinkle the flower bed with water and let it drain for at least 24 hours.

3. Plant the flower seeds

If you picked fine flower seeds, it will be easier for you to plant them if you mix them with sand. This will also ensure even distribution. Use the back of your spade to press fine seeds lightly into the soil. If you have larger flower seeds, dig low trenches and place the seeds with the use of your hands. They should be fixed deep, far apart from one another. Regardless of seeds size, you have to make sure that the covering soil is both fine and porous so that young seedlings can easily push through.

4. Water the flower beds

Soak your seeds completely into the prepared soil. On the first time of watering your plants, you should be very cautious so that you will not disturb seed placement. The best way to prevent them from washing away or clumping together is with the use of a fine hand mister. Water your flower beds whenever necessary but be careful not to over-water. Doing so will cause your seeds to rot.

If you follow all these easy steps on how to grow flowers then you will have your personal haven in no time. All it needs is a little of your care and attention.

Good Luck !

My Third Writing on Technorati

According to a press release issued by LAPAN (Institute of Aeronautics and Space Indonesia) recently, solar storms are expected to begin increasing in 2012, peaking between 2012 and 2015. The impact of these explosions in the sun can be very serious, having a variety of effects on Earth.

Physicist Dr Michio Kaku has said that the main impact of the solar storms in 2012 will be on high technology equipments such as satellites, internet, television networks and telecommunications systems. Dr Michio Kaku suggested that steps should be taken to reinforce the satellites and create redundant power systems. In the United States, President Obama has already earmarked billions to be spent on the US power grid.
The solar activities may also contribute to climate change. However, when compared to greenhouse gasses, most scientists believe the impact is minimal.

How to Stop Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Someone who has been suffering from OCD for over 25 years gave us the information as described below.

“If you or any of your loved ones are suffering from OCD, you need to know that there are millions of people around the world suffering from this very disorder. I have first hand experience with OCD as I have lived with this often misunderstood anxiety disorder for over twenty five years. My OCD started when I was just six years old. During my late teens while I was at college, things started to get really tough.

I once went to see my doctor about the OCD, who simply said that it was nothing to worry about and that it would soon pass. Well it didn't! Not knowing what to do I went to see a few specialists in this field. Although these therapists tried, they couldn't cure my problem. I also tried alternative therapies such as acupuncture and homeopathy, but unfortunately none of them helped.

That's when I started spending hours almost everyday trying to find a cure to my problems. After around ten years of research, I managed to easily cure my mind numbing disorder without any type of medicine or side effects.”

My Second Writing on Technorati

The introduction of nuclear power in developing countries faces two major obstacles, namely financing and public acceptance. Financing, because the capital costs of nuclear power plants are significantly higher than fossil power plants: on a per kilowatt basis about twice the capital costs of coal-fired power plants and three times the capital costs of natural gas combined-cycle plants. It is said that capital is scarce in developing countries and therefore should be used wisely. Public acceptance is necessary, since otherwise delays caused by protests and demonstrations could easily inflate capital costs due to possible increases in interest charges and therefore such protests and demonstrations should be avoided.

The United States Government has shown its commitment to support the development of a new generation of nuclear power plant (NGNP, Next Generation Nuclear Plant) that is more secure and safe.
World Nuclear News dated March 9, 2010 reported that two groups of technologies, each headed by General Atomics and Westinghouse, have been asked to complete the conceptual design and make detailed plans to build the NGNP.

Speed Obsession

Who is not obsessed with speed ? I guess everyone will strive to improve the speed included in the search of information on the internet.

The site reflects the speed of how fast the website responds web request. People will quickly switch to another website when they visit a website slow loading pages.Accelerating website speed is very important, not only to the owner of the site, but for all internet users. Faster sites would make users feel happy. The increasing the speed of site also reduce operational costs.

According to the above mentioned information, Google has decided to take site speed into account in search rankings.

Writer Revenue News

Yesterday I received a good news from Technorati , as mentioned below.

“We want to make Technorati.com and Blogcritics.org the most fun and inviting places possible for writers to call home. As a result, on April 1 we implemented an exciting new feature for our writers. All member writers who've updated their profiles with information about their AdSense account will receive a dedicated AdSense ad on each of their articles, with revenues generated from that ad going to them. This approach will also provide the added benefit of traffic data to our writers.

To begin with, this will be a six-month trial, but we will be looking at various metrics including article volume, promotion participation, traffic, new members, higher article output per writer, etc, in order to support its continuation. We've already seen a substantial increase in participation and writer reaction has been overwhelmingly positive!”

If you love to write and want to expand your audience and improve your craft in an exciting and supportive atmosphere, Blogcritics and Technorati both offer you unlimited opportunities for expression and exposure. We are proud to count some of the web's best amateur and professional writers among our global membership of more than 3000 writers.

How to Face Children Obesity

Based on the survey result in USA recently, approximately 16% of children and adolescents aged 2-19 years were obese. And according to a 2008 article in the Journal of the American of Medical Association, the prevalence of obesity among US children and adolescents increased significantly between 1980 and 2004.

This means there were negative tendencies towards overweight that will cause problems and diseases related in years upcoming. Kids will also face medical, emotional, and social consequences . In reality no kid likes to be made fun of and overweight children can be the target of peer pressure and ridicule. Extra pounds can lead to low self-esteem and social problems, not to mention high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and orthopedic problems.

A common parental complaint is that their children spend too much time indoors with video games rather than outside getting exercise in the fresh air. Older teens, who always appear to be trying to get out of the house, may not be getting enough aerobic exercise outside of school. Their thumbs may be in great shape from all that texting but what about the rest of their physique?

What can a parent do to insure their child is getting enough exercise – and the right kind of exercise? One thing you can do is set a good example by adhering to a healthy diet and getting enough daily exercise yourself.

Good Luck!
